A Little About Us
Historic Surfaces LLC was founded by husband and wife team Anthony and Mata Kartsonas who have over 50 years combined experience in the field of preservation and conservation.
Our company provides consulting and services to preserve and restore historic finishes. This includes a variety of different services from preliminary investigations all the way to implementation of conservation treatments and restoration. Some of the consulting services include period interior consulting, paint and finish analysis, restoration and conservation feasibility studies, and other consulting. Historic Surfaces LLC also self performs conservation and restoration work on painted finishes, murals, wood finishes, plaster, scagliola and other architectural finishes.

What We Provide
Historic Finish Studies & Consulting
We conduct and execute the study and analysis of historic architectural finishes. Through this process we can determine the original colors of painted finishes and the appearance of historic interiors.
Conservation
We perform conservation treatments to maintain and preserve historic finishes. These finishes primarily include plaster, murals, decorative painting, wood finishes and other surfaces.
Restoration
We offer services to restore historic finishes that represent the original design intent. Where finishes cannot be preserved we can replicate them to match the original appearance.

We are inspired by the craft involved in the creation of our built heritage and have worked diligently to understand as much as we can about traditional materials and techniques.
